Roller Hold-Down Systems

Most CNC routers are presented as single sheet or single layer processing centers. But what if you could increase the machine's output by machining STACKS of material? Sounds like a job for Komo's roller hold-down system.

Available on the Fusion and Mach III single table machines, The roller hold-down system is a worktable option that allows machining of one or more sheets of material at once. The system is both simple and reliable.

Two pressure rollers press down on the material under cut to provide clamping power. The rollers, well, roll with the movement of the worktable as the spindle cuts parts. The spindle is positioned between the rollers at the point of greatest pressure for maximum cutting accuracy. An electronic proximity switch system raises and lowers the roller mechanism at either side of the worktable. No complex wiring to the control unit is required. The system works automatically.

Depending upon the material type and thickness, you can usually machine up to four sheets of material at once. By using two spindles, you could create eight identical parts in one pass.

The roller hold-down system is ideal for those companies processing parts for boats, furniture or recreational vehicles. Coupled with a high-speed Komo CNC router, it's one of the most effective high-output part processing solutions available.

The system requires some additional electrical and pneumatic resources in addition to those of the machine. Maintenance is limited to cleaning and the occasional examining of the roller for wear from material contact. Most single table Komo routers with tables less than six feet in the Y axis can be outfitted with this option. It's even possible to retrofit an older Komo (VR series) for improved part processing.

Only Komo is prepared to offer customers CNC routers and options engineered and built to meet demanding, real-world production requirements. We have many more examples of our custom engineering experience to show you. Contact us today or call your local Komo representative for more information.
