Building the Future One
Machine at a Time You might expect the people at Komo Machine to be
satisfied with building some of the most versatile, reliable machines in the
world at our Sauk Rapids, Minnesota
plant. But talk to any Komo employee - top management on down - and you'll find
that we measure the success of our machines against a far different standard: the needs of our customers.
|
It's a simple idea that reflects our core
values: Experience, Growth, Innovation and Excellence. By building these
values into every phase of the manufacturing process - from design through
assembly - we've met the changes and challenges of the past 30+ years with
revolutionary ideas, superior designs, comprehensive support and an unwavering
commitment to create the right production solution.

A History of Innovation |
| Komo Machine was founded in 1966 by William
Koska and George Molus (the Ko and Mo in Komo) in
St. Cloud, Minnesota. The two men were seasoned machinists and engineers
who began the operation as a general metalworking business, producing a variety
of manual and automated production line machines for major manufacturers of
consumer appliances.
What began as a simple concept soon became a
tremendous business success. By 1980, Komo Machine had become the largest
single manufacturer of automated urethane process machines in
North America, with multiple unit lines in operation at most major
appliance manufacturing plants.
New owners purchased Komo Machine in 1981
and infused a new emphasis on growth and diversification of the product areas.
Corporate operations moved to a larger facility in the neighboring city of
Sauk Rapids in 1987. With a new 175,000 square foot facility,
Komo Machine had then nearly doubled in size and workforce, facilitating the
company's rapid growth as an industry leader.

Growth and Diversification |
 |
Komo Machine
began building CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machining centers the
early 1980's for our own production use. In 1984, Komo
Machine introduced a line of CNC large bed
and large travel machining centers for
metalworkers, which became our VMC (Vertical Machining Center) product line. |
| The success of the
VMC product line encouraged Komo Machine to expand
its customer base further by designing and building a new line of high-speed
multi-axis CNC routers
for customers in the woodworking and plastics industries. With success due in
part to the similarities between the two types of machines, Komo is now the
largest domestic manufacturer of CNC routers, with over 1000 machines installed
since 1987. The 1990's saw Komo
Machine evolve into three equal business units: Komo Automation, VMC
Machining Centers and CNC Routers.

|
Technology Transfer |
 |
In 1995, Komo Machine purchased CIM-Tech, a software developer in West
Chicago, Illinois. CIM-Tech's software quickly became a vital part of the
success of Komo's CNC router product line and led to Komo Machine's emergence
as the "technology transfer" leader in the industry!
